Posts and Electronic Communications
Under the leadership of His Excellency, Head of State, Captain Ibrahim Traoré, education has been placed at the heart of Burkina Faso’s national development, aiming for a “revolution” that fosters patriotic, skilled, and independent citizens. The initiative, often referred to as a “endogenous development” approach, aims to transform the education system to meet local needs, particularly through vocational training, technology, and national language.
His Excellency, Head of State’s Leadership supports rebuilding education, where schooling is compulsory across formal and other systems. Despite the attempted setbacks by terrorists, excellent progress has been made resuming: over 500 schools have reopened, 186,000 students have returned, and 277,500 displaced learners rejoined classes in 2023–2024.

Combating terrorism

His Excellency has made the return of internally displaced persons (IDPs) to their homes a central pillar of his security and sovereignty strategy, primarily by focusing on military reconquest of territory held by armed groups.
Burkina Faso has faced years of terrorist attacks that had displaced communities, destroyed villages, and shut down essential services. Restoring security and territorial control is now a top priority for the transition. Efforts include strengthening and equipping security forces, rebuilding infrastructure, improving intelligence, and cutting off resources to armed groups. At the same time, initiatives focus on preventing radicalization through youth engagement, civic education, and promoting peace.

Responding to the humanitarian crisis

Burkina Faso’s stabilization and development aims to ensure an urgent and effective response to the humanitarian crisis and the socio-economic and community tragedies caused by insecurity and climate hazards. Through this pillar, efforts will be made to achieve, among other things, the following policy outcomes:
The implementation of several projects/programs, including: (i) projects and programs supporting the voluntary return of displaced persons to their areas of origin; (ii) stabilization and resilience projects and programs; (iii) the continuity of basic healthcare, education in emergencies, and nutrition services for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and populations affected by terrorism; (iv) psychosocial support for victims and people affected by terrorism; (v) disaster and humanitarian crisis prevention and management; and (vi) improving the living conditions of IDPs and people affected by terrorism.
